Survivors Speaking

For A Change

NG:She is very proud to share the wonderful outcomes of our Big Lottery Awards for All funded project, "Survivors Speaking For A Change".

Following much creativity and hard work, our wonderful domestic violence and abuse Survivors Group published podcasts of our stories ......and went into print with our book,  ‘Survivors Speaking For A Change’. BUY IT HERE   All profits help survivors.

The foreword is written by our friend and sister, the wonderful creator of Counting Dead Women, co-creator of the Femicide Census and CEO of nia, a leading domestic violence charity, Karen Ingala Smith. We have also received much valued support from Professor Nicole Westmarland of Durham University, (author of ‘Violence Against Women’).

Our book shares the stories of 9 DVA survivors through the transcripts of a series of podcasts we produced ourselves. Listen to the podcasts
on Soundcloud or here on our website.

‘Survivors Speaking For A Change’ challenges the idea that healing is achieved when a survivor finds a better partner to rebuild her life with. Survivors know there are many ways of healing.

The aim of the book is to enable victims and survivors to see and believe that there can be a better day. It is also suitable for those wishing to understand more about domestic violence and abuse as a gendered phenomenon involving power and control.
